On a cloudy, but warm afternoon on January 14^th, 2006, Ted Wiederseim sold the real estate at 441 East Lancaster Avenue, Downingtown, PA. The property had belonged to Dr. Norman D. MacKenzie, a general practitioner in Downingtown for many years, who purchased the property in 1949. The house needed major renovations, but that did not stop the over two-hundred and fifty curious and serious prospective buyers from attending the three hour open house held the weekend before. On January 14^th with over one hundred onlookers, Wiederseim started the bidding at $175,000.00 and it rose quickly at $5,000.00 increments to $275,000.00. At that point, Wiederseim went into the house with the attorney and executor for the estate to discuss the bidding. After what seemed like an eternity, Wiederseim came back out and said to the crowd “This property needs a new owner! This property will be sold here, now, today! This is now an absolute auction!” The bidding took off again, reaching a final, winning bid of $312,000.00 plus the buyer’s premium, the entire process taking less than twenty-five minutes.
